Status Update

First of all let me apologize in advance for not being around for the past couple of days.

My dog got sick and spent these days in the vet healing, fortunately he’s back, but still not 100%, so not only my work requires more of my concentration, but also my dog.

I feel safe in saying that tomorrow posting will resume normally.

Thank you for your patience and attention.

See you all tomorrow and have a nice day!

Happy New Year

I wish you all a happy 2015, may it be full of success, love and happiness.

See you again next year.

A Year in Review

Hello again everybody!

Holiday season is still underway but I figure this is probably the best time for me to reflect upon my first year blogging.

First of all I want to thank everybody that has been following, liking and commenting on my posts, it has been a big boost for my ego and manages to keep me going strong. I won’t name any names, I think that would be unfair, but some people were indeed an inspiration and I loved reading some of the things they wrote.

This experience has been both fun and challenging as I got completely overwhelmed sometimes and in other occasions I just had some health setbacks. It was my first time blogging and although the first birthday is only January 6th (that day is going to be special) I think I can consider this a success. It changed a couple of my views on books and people, I read some amazing poetry and loved to share the very little I know.

As of late I have been releasing some short stories and I think I’ll make it last a while longer, my creative juices have been flowing nicely and short stories are going to be a nice break from the novel I’m starting to work on.

I want to keep pushing forward, I want to give you more information and I want all of us to have fun!

My initial goal way back in January was to write a post per day, I don’t know if that is going to happen next year, but I’ll try to keep things fresh and interesting.

Again, thank you all for the experience, it’s been a blast!

Merry Christmas

As I know I won’t be around here for a couple of days I want to take this moment and wish you all a Merry Christmas, may you enjoy these days with family and friends and be happy!

Family Matters

Who knew I’d use the title of the tv show in one of my posts?

Truth is, and I have been mentioning this for a couple of days now, my uncle had been in the hospital for the past few days, he came home today and looks like he needs some care.

I will not apologize for this taking some time away from my blogging, but I will apologize for the announcement I’m going to make:

The release date for my book is going to be around the 8th to 10th of December. This is mainly due to my recent setbacks, but family matters matter.

My posting will be back to normal tomorrow, I’m sorry but this is all you’re going to get today.

Cover Image

I’m going to keep things very simple today as I have a relative in the hospital and my personal life comes obviously first.

I wish to keep the month of goodies and previews going and so I’ll show it to you now: the image that is in the priority pile to be my cover for the book. Not going to say it’s definitive, as I also want to know your input in the whole process.

Cover Image

As you can see it’s pretty simple, but at the same time it has a couple of benefits: first of all, all covers should be simple and focus on one specific element; secondly this saves me big money as I don’t have to pay a designer, this look represents the book pretty well.

What do you guys think? Maybe I got the whole thing wrong and this image is crap. Feel free to tell me if that is the case.

From the heart

Sometimes lady luck just isn’t on your side.

Writing has been going slower and slower, but at least there’s some light at the end of the tunnel, it’s not as if the compilation isn’t going to come out by the end of this month.

Today I’m going to be a bit random, probably because of how tired I am. To wake up several times at night because the blasted dog insists on seeing signs of life from me has been taking its toll.

I like waking up early in the morning. I try to wake up at 5 in the morning every day and do my routine of working out and taking a good cold shower. But waking up means I have to take the dog out almost immediately, otherwise I have urine and crap to clean. Then he likes to play and fool around after going outside and more and more of my time is wasted. Between physical therapy, because my neck hurts again, and work, there goes a huge chunk of my day. I try to be positive about it, there’s no use in negativity, but the wear and tear slows me down occasionaly. Isn’t that what life is in general?

On the other side of the spectrum there’s always the funny looks people give me when I say I sleep on the floor. Never mind the fact that’s much healthier than a bed, it is weird they say. That and other things lead me to wonder if I wasn’t born in the wrong age.

Since I majored in Philosophy that often happens, the contemplation of life.

Writing such large chunks of text in one go tires me too, but I know I’m doing the right thing. It is draining but at the same time satisfying to actually see results, and that’s why I’m sticking to my way of doing things.

So what was I saying again? Oh yeah, I’m pretty tired.

Maybe it’s time to take a nap and let my dreams convey a story for me to remember tomorrow.

Have a great day!

All-Star Week is over

And so it ends without another update, but there is a reason for my madness: each week I’m going to release a new chapter of that short story about the man in the train station. I figure that will be a way to keep my sanity as I keep on working like a raving lunatic this month to get my story done.

But that’s not the only thing I’m going to give you throughout the month, I intend to showcase more about covers and maybe some art and obviously some previews regarding what my story will be about.

For now I cannot tell you more, other than this is going to be a serious challenge and a big roller-coaster.

So what’s new?

In my world nothing much, I’ve been watching movies, reading, doing some research and generally getting myself pumped. So today I’m going to give you a list of movies I recently saw again, movies that are just pretty awesome overall. I’m not a big fan of action these days, more about personal relationships, personal dramas and more. So here’s the list:

  • Butterflies are Free
  • Rebel Without a Cause
  • Splendor in the Grass
  • Roman Holiday

You know, if someone told me 20 years ago that this would be the type of films that interest me the most, I would have laughed at you pretty hard, but damn are these films worthy of watching at least a couple of times.

Something that has been interesting me more and more are also movies with a small cast; that let’s character development and character interaction flourish like crazy, and that is every writer’s dream.

Until tomorrow my friends, have a great day!

All-Star Week – Day 4

The funniest thing ever: I realized only now that instead of star I wrote start in the title in the previous post. I won’t change it now.

Unfortunately I won’t bring you a story today, as my puppy is still feeling a bit sick, and I’ve been lacking the time to put things into writing, the proper form at least.

What I want to say is that the foundation for my book has been set and I’ve been playing around with certain ideas for the plot. The first few steps of character creation are also done; tomorrow they should be all finished.

This project has been energizing me more and more as time goes by, and I think that a realistic release date can be set to be around the last few days of November.

It has a different setting and plot that what I’m used to, and I’m starting things from scratch, it’s great to work on something new after being away from writing for so long. I just hope it all pays off. Here comes my dramatic persona setting in, ahah.

So this is just a small update as I keep on trying to get things done is this chaotic environment.

Maybe I should post daily updates on how my story is moving along, giving you a glimpse of how I work. It’s up to you. If you don’t want it I’m pretty sure I’m capable of thinking of something else.

Time to think about a title now, I know it should be the last thing to do when writing, but like I told you, I’m feeling pretty excited.

Have a great day, and expect chapter 3 or another piece of flash fiction tomorrow!

Technology

So why haven’t I posted in the last couple of days?

The same reason I lost a big draft that I’ll never recover again.

Technology.

Now I know that without technology we wouldn’t be chatting around over here and all that stuff, but sometimes you are counting on something and then it fails you badly.

Computer problems ladies and gentlemen, how often do we have them?

How much do we rely on our technology?

I remember the atmosphere surrounding the potential Y2K situation. People were going crazy over it because at the time we were so tech dependant that millions of lives could be ruined. And in this day and age, 14 years later, we rely on technology even more. Kids no longer run around in their bikes, they prefer to play with their Playstation 3’s and 4’s. Obviously this could lead to a big problem.

I don’t know, maybe I was born in the wrong age, maybe I would have felt better one hundred or two hundred years ago, because I honestly don’t like the direction we are taking.

Or maybe I’m just blowing steam that acumulated over the past couple of days.

Tomorrow I’ll probably feel a lot better.

Have a great day!
